of the business community for their contributions that
helped make Fiesta Edinburg 2003 a huge success. The
corporate sponsors and volunteers were presented with
a token of appreciation on behalf of the Chamber board
of directors and staff. Elva Jackson Garza represented
Edwards Abstract and Title Co. at the event and accepted
the company's award.
Byron
Jay Lewis served as President of the Edinburg Chamber
of Commerce in 1994 and Elva Jackson Garza served as
Chairman of the Board during 2000. Lewis was instrumental
in the purchase, renovation and fundraising efforts
for the historic Southern Pacific Train Depot located
at 602 West University Drive. The Depot currently houses
the Chamber of Commerce and the Edinburg Economic Development
Corporation. "The business community realized the importance
of preserving one of our most historic buildings and
our efforts paid off. The facility was built in 1927
and is currently the site of many meetings and other
projects that are implemented to improve the quality
of life in Edinburg" commented Lewis.
